It was last year when i realized that i had to change to the new
curriculum in design from my current one which was with a mention in Graphic design. i had no
choice since i was behind in one important subject and i couldn't take it again
because the faculty was implementing the new curriculum starting from this year
and the old curriculum wasn´t going to provide classes for it anymore.
It was a huge change for me since i was used to the old one but
thinking about it right now, it seems it was for the best. I feel a little bit
less stressed and i've learned a lot of new things.
One of the biggest differences
was that i had to take some more general subjects in design and others even
more inclined towards Industrial design, I could even make equivalent some
subjects that i already did in the old curriculum. So currently i have 5
subjects in total, starting from Project IV, which is the most important in my
career, then i have process and prototypes II, introduction to design
investigation, footwear design and English IV. It’s still a lot of workload
though, and since all of this is very new, there’s a lack of proper
organization, so this is one of the first thing that i would like to change,
for example sometimes there is not enough academic offer for each mention in
some subjects so there’s times when a graphic designer is asigned to a section
especialized in industrial design, other times there’s a lack of teachers for
each section and so on.
On the other hand, regarding the faculty facilities and infraestructure,
i think is not that hard to see that is lacking in many aspects, i mean, the cafetería
is pretty small and almost every classroom lacks proper lighting, temperature
and are very old. So, in conclusión, i think the faculty should make more
research about this topic, to ask students how they perceive their enviroment
and to actually apply solutions, for example give more áreas for students to rest
and to work outside class hours.
Now I am in 7 subjects, in designn and I don't know, I think the workload is very much.
